helping people find their way to God

Congleton Baptist Church: Who are we?

who are Congleton Baptist Church

We are a church of ordinary people, serving an extraordinary God, striving to make a difference in our local community. As a Church, we believe the Bible is the Word of God, through which He has revealed His love and plan for all people. We believe the Christian life is not only Heaven someday, but it is the best way to live today: for the individual, for the family, and the nation. For a statement of our beliefs, please visit our beliefs page.

How did Congleton Baptist Church begin?

Service at Congleton Baptist Church

In March 2002, a handful of people from Milton Baptist Church in Stoke on Trent came to Congleton to plant a new church. Initially, the church met at Bromley Farm Community Centre with a service on Sunday afternoons, and youth work in the local community. Today, Congleton Baptist Church continues to move forward and grow. We maintain our links with Bromley Farm through our thriving youth work, while meeting for our main services at St John Ambulance centre on West Road. Our long-term vision is to have our own premises.

I would like to come to a church service. What can I expect?

Our Sunday morning service is friendly and welcoming. The first part of the service consists of worship songs and hymns which are a mixture of modern and traditional, along with prayers, Bible readings, and a section for children, including children's songs and often a brief talk. In the second part of the service, there is a Bible-based sermon, while the children are catered for separately in Sunday School. At the end of the service, tea, coffee and biscuits are served during a time of informal fellowship. The children enjoy a snack before participating in Sunday Club.  [Top]

What activities do we offer?

day trip activity of Congleton Baptist Church

Our church motto is taken from Jude verse 22, which is "Having Compassion, Making a Difference." We are a church for the whole family. For young people we offer a range of activities that include Sunday Club, holiday clubs, special events and trips, and a teens group. We also run separate men's and ladies' groups. For us, church is more than just a Sunday thing to do, church is a family. Our goal is to be a relevant church who reaches out to our community and beyond. Through our missions programme we are helping to impact lives in various parts of the world including Ireland and Kyrgyzstan.  [Top]

Who are the leaders of Congleton Baptist Church?

Josh & Melissa, Youth Pastor

Pastor Joshua Booth began serving in church ministry as a teenager in 1995. In 2006, Joshua served as Assistant to the Pastor at Heritage Baptist Church in Florida. That same year, God called Joshua and his wife, Melissa, to serve in England to help build and strengthen churches in the UK. After many preparations, the Booths arrived in Congleton in June 2011. Pastor Booth remains committed to the plain, straightforward preaching of God's Word, and is honoured to pastor Congleton Baptist Church. God has abundantly blessed the faithful preaching, teaching and pastoral ministry of Joshua and Melissa. For leisure, they enjoy hiking, camping, and cycling.
